Let a man rest himself in the positive certainties of God and no longer will he lie at the mercy of thick darkness. ... "Underneath are the everlasting arms." "The Lord is my shepherd." "He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." You can lean against words like these!

Affirm passionately again and again the categorical certainties of God. Resign what is beyond your understanding to the understanding of God, what is beyond your strength to the unfailing strength of God. The responsibility for the ultimate shape of things has passed over from you to Him. The battle is no longer your puny striving matched against heavy odds. The battle is with the Lord of Hosts. God is our refuge and strength. Oh, rest in the Lord. Sometimes we wear ourselves out most of all by resisting God. ...
