Glasses removed as faultfinding ceases

The second healing that I had in Christian Science was of the need of wearing glasses after a well-known oculist had said that I would never be able to do without them and that I would need to get stronger glasses as time went on. The healing came instantaneously while I was sitting in a practitioner's office and suddenly found that I had lost all tendency to think critically of anyone. I took the glasses off and said to the practitioner, "You may destroy these, because I will have no more need for them."

Right after that experience I began studying the Bible and all the writings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and I also subscribed for and read all the Christian Science periodicals. Many times I have studied all night without the slightest sense of fatigue or blurred vision. Later I became a member of a Church of Christ, Scientist, in which I had the privilege of serving in many capacities.

During my term as First Reader I used the pocket editions of the books. My sight was perfect for about a year, but then it suddenly became blurred. I knew that I had been healed before; therefore I was willing to trust Christian Science again to take care of this difficulty with the eyes. The suggestion came that I should get the Readers' editions of the books, but this I knew would be, under the circumstances, as material as turning to a non-intelligent piece of glass to magnify the print. So after several weeks of faithful study and work, with no apparent improvement, I finally decided that I would write to my teacher for help.
