OBEDIENCE

"Launch out into the deep,"
The Master prayed,
"And let down your nets for a draught."
Blind, self-willed, they argued,
But finally obeyed.
Then out upon the placid waters
Of Gennesaret
Sailed the little fishing boat
With the empty net.
Submissively they cast it
Into the tranquil deep
Where streams run peacefully,
And lo, drawn from out the depths
They found abundancy.

When angel thoughts direct our course
From shallow human ways,
Do we obey the voice we hear
And for profound abundance steer?
Do we cast deep our nets of thought,
Or stay behind and gather nought?
A simple task—Be still, obey!
The still small voice will show the way
Into Truth's everlasting day.
