OBEDIENCE

"Launch out into the deep,"The Master prayed,"And let down your nets for a draught."Blind, self-willed, they argued,But finally obeyed. Then out upon the placid watersOf GennesaretSailed the little fishing boatWith the empty net.Submissively they cast itInto the tranquil deepWhere streams run peacefully,And lo, drawn from out the depthsThey found abundancy.

When angel thoughts direct our courseFrom shallow human ways,Do we obey the voice we hearAnd for profound abundance steer?Do we cast deep our nets of thought,Or stay behind and gather nought?A simple task—Be still, obey! The still small voice will show the wayInto Truth's everlasting day.
