"LET FREEDOM RING"

When the Lawgiver was the only law of creation, freedom reigned, and was the heritage of man; but this freedom was the moral power of good, not of evil: it was divine Science, in which God is supreme, and the only law of being." Thus our inspired Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, on page 259 of "Miscellaneous Writings," makes plain that true liberty originates in God, the only lawmaker.

These words sound an imperative call to understand and claim our spiritual rights under the "law of creation," wherein God, Mind, is creator, cause, and controller of the universe, and man, endowed with perfection, is the effect or expression of God, subject only to His laws. Mosaic law, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and other declarations concerning the rights of man are potent to establish and maintain human freedom in proportion as they pattern the divine law.

An understanding of the fundamental facts of being is necessary to gain true freedom. These facts may be found in the Bible and in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, both of which declare that man, as the reflection of God, inseparable from Him, is spiritual, perfect, and free; that he can never be in bondage to the so-called laws of penalty, heredity, or environment. In reality, there are no laws of matter to transgress, and "the moral power of good" is supreme.
