FORGIVENESS

Benjamin Sturgis Pray

Clear-shafted let forgiveness shine
And with restoring rays define
The self, untouched, robust, and tender,
Of both offended and offender.

Let us yield up our separate prides
And let repentance on both sides
Acknowledge every man to be
Essential to infinity.
