For the many blessings and...

For the many blessings and benefits I have received from the study of Christian Science, I wish to express my gratitude to God. I first became interested in this Science through attending services in a branch church. Curiosity took me there, but the peace and serenity of the Lesson-Sermons made me continue to attend. Although I accepted the religion, I still was not ready to accept the undivided garment and depend entirely on it for physical healing.

Not long after this a daughter passed on. This was a testing time, but I came through this experience still believing that Christian Science was the best religion, and I clung to what understanding I had. During this time I was healed of a very severe throat infection. I am grateful that the help I received from a practitioner enabled me to take a firm stand for Truth. Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." This time I relied wholly on Christian Science and asked for no help from material sources, and I was healed.

I continued attending the church services and also read the Lesson-Sermon each day, but I had not yet been awakened to the fact that I needed what membership in the church has to give. While attending a lecture on Christian Science, I realized that I wanted to ally myself with this great Cause and would be proud to be known as a Christian Scientist. Later, when I realized that the movement had need of me in other ways than just in name, I joined a branch church and gratefully helped in the church activities.
