Who Needs the Treatment?
A statement familiar to the ears of a Christian Science practitioner runs something like this: "Of course you understand that it is my wife (or husband) who needs help, not myself." The speaker may question the quizzical smile with which the practitioner greets such a remark and may be surprised to hear the practitioner assert that sometimes the speaker may discover he is just as much in need of Christian Science treatment as the one for whom he is seeking aid.
What person does not need the improved mental outlook which the study and application of Christian Science inevitably bring? Who does not need to learn in Christian Science how to stand guard over his mental home, how to welcome good and repel the insidious arguments of evil? Who does not need to understand what God is, and learn how His law of harmony silences the discord of the senses? In the words of a familiar hymn,
