The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, lay in our house for many years unread, yet never discarded. When in my early teens I suffered a nervous breakdown, my mother and I decided to find out something about the Science in that book. Doctors had not helped me, and we were growing afraid. We called a practitioner, and the following Sunday I entered the Christian Science Sunday School.

Here I should like to express my gratitude for the teachers in that Sunday School who encouraged and helped me year after year as my thinking, and consequently my body, improved until I was completely healed. As Mrs. Eddy says on page 518 of Science and Health: "The rich in spirit hem the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth his brother's need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another's good."

While in the Sunday School I was also healed of a severe case of astigmatism. I had been condemned to wear glasses for life, and suffered the discomfort of wearing two pairs for all school work. Several times I tried without success to discard them, and then the day came when I did not even realize that I had gone out without them. That was thirteen years ago, and I have never worn them since.
