I am indeed grateful to God for the glorious truths of Christian Science which He has revealed to the world through our gracious Leader. Mary Baker Eddy. I am grateful to her for following the leadings of God and establishing the Christian Science movement and its activities. One of the activities which are bringing great good to humanity is the distribution of our literature. Because of this activity I was led to take the right steps in gaining my first healing in Science.

After suffering several years from rheumatism and being treated by many doctors, who gave me no hope of recovery. I took a copy of the Sentinel from a literature distribution box in a railroad station one day. After reading one testimony of healing, I said to myself, I have everything to gain and nothing to lose by trying Christian Science, and I will do so right now. I found the Reading Room in that city, and from there I went to a practitioner's office, where I had an instantaneous healing.

About two months after becoming interested in Christian Science I went to sea in the Merchant Marine service. Storms on the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean made life so miserable aboard ship for me and also others that I resolved to apply Science to the situation. I had seen that Truth heals disease, so I knew no reason why it should not heal storms.
