Our Reading Rooms

Window Displays

Every day many people stop before our windows to read the material displayed. Located on the ground floor in the business area of this town of about four thousand five hundred people, the Reading Room has approximately thirty visitors a week, perhaps ten per cent of them strangers.

We have a large front window and a smaller side window. In order to give pure Christian Science the best location, we place the Bible and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with a Christian Science Quarterly, in the front window, the books open to citations from the weekly Lesson-Sermon. These citations are changed each day. Then, because we have so much space, we arrange other books by Mrs. Eddy on the sides of the center display.

In the side window we place The Christian Science Monitor, the periodicals (both closed and open), and such other material as will prove helpful to the seeker for the truth regarding Christian Science. We have found it of educational value to show the several biographies of our Leader on occasion, singly and in groups. A card announcing our church services and testimony meetings is placed with this display, as well as with the arrangement in the front window. We keep a periodical, or one of Mrs. Eddy's books, open to a new testimony daily.
