Looking back over the years I...
Looking back over the years I realize the many blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. I am indeed grateful for the day this teaching was first brought to my attention. It was when one of our children was suffering from whooping cough. The healing came quickly, and we then began the study of Christian Science. We placed the two children in the Sunday School, which they attended until they reached the age limit.
Many more healings took place. "Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works ...: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered," we read in Psalms (40:5). Colds, mumps, chicken pox, burns, falls, cuts, bruises, and a severe case of sore throat were healed, and the children have been helped in their schoolwork. The sixth verse in the third chapter of Proverbs has been an outstanding help and a daily guide: "In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths." This promise has never failed us.
One of my latest demonstrations was the healing of influenza. One morning on arising I felt very ill. While wondering whether or not to call a practitioner I picked up the Christian Science Quarterly and saw that the subject of the new Lesson-Sermon was "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?" I read the whole Lesson aloud. After working in Christian Science I went about my household tasks, then went to help my daughter, who needed me, came home and prepared supper, and attended the quarterly business meeting at our church that evening. No one knew that I had had any difficulty at all. Every application of Christian Science to our daily affairs brings light, might, and grateful satisfaction. I have come to recognize the truth of the statement in Science and Health (p. 66), "Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love."
