Christian Science is certainly...
Christian Science is certainly the greatest blessing that ever came into my experience. I feel that it would be gross ingratitude for me not to pass the following experience on to others interested in this Science.
Several years ago, while walking to the grocery, several blocks distant from my home, I was suddenly seized with a severe hemorrhage from the lungs, attended by coughing. I was filled with panic and could not even think clearly. In spite of the fact that I had been a student of Christian Science for more than twelve years. I found it hard to direct my thoughts away from the material evidence which seemed so real. I repeated "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468) over and over aloud while I proceeded to the store on my errand.
Upon my arrival at home I had another attack, accompanied again by great tear. I asked my wife to call a practitioner for help, and went to bed. Treatment was begun immediately, and together my wife and I read the Bible and Science and Health and some of our periodicals. All during the week that followed the trouble was persistent, but the hemorrhages became less frequent each day. My wile stayed constantly with me and helped me to overcome the tear which bound me. "Man's extremity" certainly was proved to be "God's opportunity." and the healing was accomplished through the practitioner's work and ours. Although it was several months before fear was entirely overcome, I was able to be back at work after only one week. My strength was regained rapidly, and there has never been a recurrence of the condition.
