I feel a very deep sense of gratitude...
I feel a very deep sense of gratitude for having been led to study Christian Science—truly the Science of Christianity, of Life. It is for this reason that I should like to give my testimony, with the hope that it may help to encourage others.
Over eight years ago I became interested in Christian Science, and it has indeed been the Comforter to me, for it has taught me to depend upon God for everything, instead of upon human planning and human companionship. At the time that I really began to study Christian Science, over four years ago, I was at the point of a complete nervous breakdown, due to inability to cope with the responsibilities of motherhood. Although I had been asked by a doctor to go to a sanatorium for rest. I decided to rely entirely upon Christian Science, for I knew from previous experiences that physical treatments only prolonged the time when I should have to change my mental attitude. With the strong desire for Truth, I became very much interested in studying God's laws, as set forth in the Bible. Mrs. Eddy's interpretation of these laws in her textbook, Science and Health, has been a revelation to our family. Now, instead of almost constant doctors' appointments, we are demonstrating God's allness and recognizing the fact that, in truth, we constantly reflect Him.
One of the loveliest proofs of God's healing power came one evening when our eight-year-old daughter was suffering from an earache. I had been singing some Christian Science hymns to her and as I left her room the words from the first verse of Mrs. Eddy's hymn "Christ My Refuge" (Poems, p. 12) came to me.
