It was the instability of matter which I perceived and my ever-growing unrest in all material pursuits that finally turned me to an earnest study of Christian Science. But even before I knew it was Science that I needed, my older son, then a baby three years old. began to suffer from asthma, according to a doctor's diagnosis. Each attack was more alarming than the last, until I decided that there was only one thing which would heal him and that was Christian Science.

Many years before that my mother had been healed of hay fever through this treatment, and as a consequence I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School. which I attended until I reached the age limit. Soon after that I moved away and almost forgot what I had been taught of the truth.

The seed had been sown, however, and in my extremity I reached out to God, and the answer came—Christian Science. I was thoroughly convinced of its power and efficacy to heal. I went to a practitioner, treatment was begun, and I started to study the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

I soon realized that the smoking habit, to which I was addicted, would hinder my spiritual progress. I therefore began to work in Christian Science to overcome this habit, and as soon as I had succeeded. the child's asthma disappeared. It has not troubled him since. This victory of Truth over error. Spirit over the flesh, took a little over a year to be realized, and many lessons were learned.

The desire for social drinking left me. and then I enjoyed the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. Since then I have had many wonderful healings. The most outstanding was that of a very painful spinal condition, which was overcome with the help of a practitioner. The singing of the hymns helped to break the mesmeric belief, and I also learned that attendance at church services, as well as systematic daily study, is important if we would keep thought clear and the body healthy.

I am grateful to be able to teach the children what God is, and what man, and heaven, and angels, and the true facts of existence are. I am thankful that God gave Mary Baker Eddy this wonderful truth, which she was able to reveal to the world so simply that even a child can demonstrate it.—(Mrs.) Ruth Crowell Bensinger, Mansfield.
