"Bless the Lord, O my soul...

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. ... Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases." These verses from Psalm 103 are heavily marked in my first Bible, for I had been a semi-invalid ever since I was six years old, and yearned for health. I longed, too, to know God, and I had not found Him.

That "man's extremity is God's opportunity" proved to be true in my case, for when the invalidism culminated in a severe attack of nervous prostration, I was fully ready to open the door wide so that God could enter in. And through the loving ministration of Christian Science I was able to recognize His ever-presence.

I had lost the power to walk, and had such an array of physical diseases that it seemed I was very rapidly approaching the valley of the shadow. It was then that the doctor who was giving me mechanotherapy treatments recommended Christian Science. I immediately wired to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and secured a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. At first I understood little of the book, but its sincerity attracted me to such an extent that I could not lay it down. The loving practitioner gave only a few absent treatments, and in two weeks' time I was walking along the boardwalk of the seaside place to which our family had gone for the summer, with wings on my feet.
