I feel I owe so much to Christian Science...
I feel I owe so much to Christian Science that telling about it is the least I can do. Many times this truth has healed and protected me, both with and without my knowledge. Once, while about to cross a busy street, I was restrained as though by a hand on my arm. At just that moment a rapidly moving car passed over the spot where I was about to step. Nothing had touched me but the power of Love.
While in "boot camp," I contracted measles at the time of an epidemic. Being fearful, and not knowing what course to follow, I got in touch with the Christian Science Camp Welfare Worker, who pointed out to me that Mrs. Eddy counsels Christian Scientists to obey the laws of the land, and that I should therefore go to sick bay as required by the military authorities. He gave me a service edition of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with several references to study, and assured me that he would help me in Science.
I read the references several times that day and then commenced to read Science and Health through again from the beginning. At that time I was completely covered with red spots, but by the next morning the spots were gone, together with every other vestige of the disease. The doctor allowed me to leave sick bay and return to active duty. I had been in sick bay just a little more than twenty-four hours, while all those admitted at the same time and receiving medical care were there for a considerably longer time.
