Auckland, New Zealand (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Auckland, was formally dedicated at morning and evening services on June 9, 1946.

A short account of the progress of the organization in Auckland was given by the First Reader. Christian Science was brought to the city in 1908, he said, and regular services began in a private house the following year. In 1913 the group of students was recognized by the authorities in Boston, Massachusetts, as a branch of The Mother Church under the title of Christian Science Society, Auckland, and services were continued in various hired halls. In 1916 the society gained the status of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Auckland.

A small building was erected at the foot of St. Martin's Lane in 1925, and used as a church until the congregation overflowed and the present commodious church was begun. The cornerstone of the new building was laid on June 10, 1933, and the first services were held there on September 21 of the same year.

The church is well designed for its purposes, and contains, in addition to the principal auditorium, a large Sunday School hall, board room, committee rooms, and other facilities.
