The Open Door to Church Attendance

"Come in, thou blessed of the Lord; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house" (Gen. 24:31).

A Christian Scientist from another state was urged to come to this city when a relative, not a student of Christian Science, became very ill. When the Christian Scientist first came to our Reading Room, she brought two other relatives with her, who spent the time talking with each other while she made purchases. During the second visit, the same relatives examined the books on the tables. On the third visit, they too bought literature. They are now regular attendants at our church services.

A man who was feeling the strain of separation from a loved one came to the Reading Room on the recommendation of a friend. He said that he had been reading in a superficial way the textbook of Christian Science. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but that now he was beginning to see what a practical help Christian Science could be, and he wanted to study more deeply. He said that his highest desire was to be a member of a Church of Christ. Scientist, and he asked how best to go about becoming a member.
