Many years ago I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting upon invitation of a friend. This was my first introduction to Christian Science. As I listened to the testimonies and expressions of gratitude which were given, I thought. This is wonderful, this is what I want. I knew somehow that these grateful people were speaking the truth. I was reared in a Christian home, had faith in God and in prayer; but it was a blind faith, for I thought of God as a superior person, similar to a king, sitting in a seat of judgment, blessing the good and punishing the wicked and sinful. I learned, however, that prayer is healing and effective.
I was so greatly impressed with this religion that I immediately began to study. I wanted to know more about Christian Science, for it seemed to be all that I wanted and needed.
It was not long after I took up the study of Christian Science that I felt the need of physical healing for a stomach distress from which I had suffered for some time. I had visited health resorts and undergone much medical treatment. At that time I asked a Christian Science practitioner for metaphysical treatment. My first healing followed. Since that time I have seen and experienced many healings, such as of colds, sprains, malaria, influenza, hay fever, two supposedly incurable diseases, and injuries from accidents. I have seen the demonstration of God's love in supplying a home under difficult conditions, and a profitable and permanent position for a member of my family during the depression, when positions were almost unheard of.
