Signs of the Times
Going Forward
The Times
London, England
The ancient records of the Old Testament describe how Samuel, in a pause of warfare, with victories gained but enemies still to meet, set by the wayside a memorial stone, saying, "Hitherto hath the Lord helped us." Such a landmark, so inscribed, should be placed in the nation's thought at the point it has reached today, when in gratitude it recalls the mercies of the past, and in humble confidence goes forward.
