I am happy to share some of the good I have received through Christian Science. Two healings are perhaps more outstanding from the world's point of view than the many other physical healings we have had. The moral, educational, mental, and financial benefits have been great, but the spiritual blessings have been even greater.

When I turned to Christian Science for help I was suffering from periodic paralysis, subject to complete helplessness—speech, hearing and sight being impaired during attacks. This condition, which occurred at intervals of every few weeks without warning, was the aftereffect of an emergency operation. The physician and specialist acknowledged they never could effect a cure. Their only method of relief was to administer narcotics sufficient to keep me under their effect, usually for twenty-four hours. A member of my family was told it would be humanly impossible for me to live through many of these attacks; that anyone might be the last.

During this time my daughter was suffering from a supposedly hereditary tubercular condition. She had had minor operations which were to lead up to a major operation, and was making three trips a week to the hospital for skin tests and X-ray treatment. There being no improvement, we consulted the most highly rated specialist, who told us that she could not possibly live through the major operation, that there was but one chance in a thousand of her living under any conditions more than three months, and that if she did she would be a hopeless, bedridden consumptive. She was then six years old, and it was necessary to wheel her about.
