Over twenty years ago I was...
Over twenty years ago I was opposed to what I believed Christian Science to be. At that time several physicians had said my mother had a cancer and could live only a few months. She asked me to get a Christian Science practitioner. Little did I realize the wonderful transformation Science was to bring to all of us. My husband, who had been gassed during the last war, was in a veterans' hospital suffering from tuberculosis of the lungs.
At the time of the practitioner's visit to our home I was in splendid health, except that I had worn glasses constantly from childhood, fearing to take them off because of resulting severe pains in my head. Two physicians told me the condition would become worse as I grew older.
My mother asked me to read with her the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. I read the Bible gladly, but was reluctant to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I did read it, however, because of my desire to please my mother.
