Church Dedications

Wildwood, New Jersey (First Church).—Morning and evening services marking the dedication of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Wildwood, were held on Sunday, August 30, 1942.

In June, 1917, a group of Christian Scientists met in a hall above the Pacific Avenue Fire House. Shortly thereafter they organized Christian Science Society, Wildwood. As the membership grew, plans were made to purchase a church building; and, in January, 1920, the church building at 133 East Davis Avenue was purchased with the assistance of grant from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy.

In the spring of 1927 an addition was put on the building, which was used for the Sunday school and Reading Room. The society became a church in May, 1932, thereby changing the name and title to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Wildwood.
