This testimony is given in response...
This testimony is given in response to a desire to voice gratitude for a healing which took place some years ago. After many days in a wilderness of woe, I was taken suddenly with fainting spells. Life seemed to be slipping away, then coming back; the ebb and flow continued throughout the night. The doctor who was called pronounced it congestion of the left side and irregular heart action. One relapse after another occurred and finally a specialist was called, who confirmed the diagnosis which had been given by other medical authorities—a tumor and hernia. I had worn a truss for fifteen years until I could no longer endure the pressure. However, these conditions were cited as not being the exciting cause of the difficulty at that time. Instead, the doctor plainly said, "Years of overwork and worry have brought you where you are." As a last resort, I was taken to the hospital for observation; but nothing could be done for me.
I returned home hopeless and helpless. Then a friend sent me a letter asking me to try Christian Science. I knew nothing of it and was not in favor of trying it. My husband implored me to do so. A practitioner visited me once, and some correspondence was carried on; she also gave me absent treatment. I purchased the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and read it daily. I drank deep of the river of Life. At the end of four weeks I was able to go to the practitioner's office, a distance of twenty-five miles. Indeed, I had been redeemed—healed. The misery of those three years of illness had been blotted out. I was strong again. The world to me was once more bright and fair.
I have since had class instruction and have done some healing work. I rejoice and give thanks for proof of God's ever-present, loving care, and gratefully appreciate our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I am fully convinced that the operation of Christian Science is in fulfillment of Jesus' promise to his disciples, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."—(Mrs.) Myrta K. Renwick, Saranac, Michigan.
