Christian Science is teaching me...
Christian Science is teaching me to think rightly about myself and others, and I have proved many times the power of right thinking to heal discordant conditions of both mind and body. When I was quite a young girl, I witnessed the healing of my mother of a chronic stomach disorder which had defied the best endeavors of able physicians, among them her brother. This healing was brought about through the work of a Christian Science practitioner in a distant city, and at the time my mother had no knowledge of Christian Science except what she had gained in conversation with a relative who had been healed through Christian Science. An account of this healing was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of October 9, 1909.
This healing made a deep impression upon me, and I began depending on Christian Science for help in physical disturbances. I was soon healed of a tendency to constant head colds in the cold months of the year, and of a very disturbing condition resulting from catarrh. It was not, however, until both my parents had passed on that I was ready to begin the study of Christian Science and apply my understanding gained thereby in overcoming problems that arose. Through the years that have intervened I have had ample proof of the power and willingness of God to meet all human needs.
I should like to tell here of one instantaneous healing which I had several years ago. I was suffering from a very painful condition in the shoulder and arm. The effort of putting on my clothing and the weight of wearing it, also the jar occasioned by walking, were almost unbearable. I asked a practitioner for help, but when, after several weeks, the condition seemed no better, I decided to work alone with God and depend upon my own understanding. I earnestly endeavored to bring my every thought within my highest understanding of Mind's domain and to think rightly about myself and others.
