I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life.

I took up the study of this Science in 1913, because I had been sickly and underweight from boyhood. I had taken so much medicine in the five years previous to 1913 that it finally had no effect on me at all. I purchased Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, also some of her other works, and a Bible, began studying them, and also had some treatments from a practitioner. By the next year, I was much better and had gained over twenty pounds in weight.

I was then suddenly attacked with a very serious physical trouble, and was tempted at first to take medicine, because I was a new student in Christian Science at that time, but I overcame the temptation and asked a practitioner for treatment, which was lovingly given. I had six weeks' treatment before I was able to work again. The most wonderful thing about it was that I was healed in the first treatment of the tobacco habit in all its forms. I had both chewed tobacco and smoked cigarettes. I was healed at the same time of the liquor habit and the use of profanity. Very soon after that, I was healed of chronic bronchitis and chronic stomach trouble. I also had an instantaneous healing of a sprained ankle, about 1916. The healing came through the truth which flooded my consciousness just a few minutes after the incident occurred, and I found myself suddenly well. That has always been a happy memory to me, for through this experience I realized that it is Truth that makes us free.
