I am grateful for the steadfastness of Mary Baker Eddy's unselfed love for humanity, and for the wonderful truth which was unfolded in her consciousness and given to us in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Deepest gratitude wells up within me as I endeavor to share my experiences, that others may be blessed.

I first sought Christian Science because the contradictory nature of all material reasoning had brought to me only confusion and a misunderstanding of God's law. I longed for that which would stand the test of right reasoning. Since that time the answer to my prayer has been constantly unfolding, either quickly or slowly, according to my willingness to forget self.

My first healing, an instantaneous one, came to me the day after I had paid my first visit to a practitioner's office, where truth was poured unstintingly into my hungry thought. Although I did not know it at the time, that hour's consideration of the truth about God and man was to bring about my first healing in Christian Science. The following morning I was given my first opportunity to prove that I did truly desire this Science. Even though all that I had gleaned in the one hour with the practitioner seemed but a grain of mustard seed, I used it without question or doubt, and because of this I was healed that morning of chronic constipation. I was grateful for the physical healing, but far more deeply grateful that it gave me a proof of the spiritual facts that had been explained to me the day before.
