I wish to express my gratitude to God for leading me to Christian Science, over a quarter of a century ago. I shall never forget my first meeting with a Christian Science practitioner, and the joy and comfort she gave me. I had been sick in bed for nearly a year, and my burdens were many and heavy. She lovingly explained how, in the words of the hymn (No. 124), to

"... drop my burden at His feet,
And bear a son away."

During the first World War, I was traveling to the Pacific Coast, and on the first day of my journey I noticed a discoloration on my face. As the spot grew larger, I realized I was suffering from erysipelas, for I had had this trouble before. In San Francisco I went to a practitioner for help, and in five days the swelling and redness began to leave; and in seven days there was no sign of the trouble. What a difference between Christian Science treatment and medical help! When the doctor treated me I was put to bed for thirty days, had a special nurse, and was told to expect this trouble to happen again any time. When I had Christian Science treatment I was not in bed a single day, and have not had the trouble since, for what God cures stays cured.
