"A better transparency for Truth"
"The mortal mind through which Truth appears most vividly is that one which has lost much materiality—much error—in order to become a better transparency for Truth," writes Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 295). Truly, it should be the constant prayer of each one to become "a better transparency for Truth," and this state is attained as the mortal belief of life, substance, and intelligence in matter is overcome in individual human consciousness.
Our thinking becomes a clear transparency through which the light of Truth may shine as we cease to believe life to be circumscribed within matter. When we realize that Life is God, Spirit, knowing no element of evil, comprised only of the attributes of divine Mind, which are indestructible, then the sunshine of Truth dispels the mist of error and harmony prevails.
If we believe that man is material, we may see this belief expressed as sickness or inharmony. We must reverse this erroneous concept and understand that the man of God's creating is altogether spiritual, expressing His goodness in perfect health and peace. Spiritual man is incorporeal, comprised of the qualities which reflect God, and including no discord or materiality. God's man is incapable of discord or disease. The clear realization of these facts frees the human consciousness from the false suggestions of the carnal mind, enabling thought to be "a better transparency for Truth."
