Topic: How to Pray Righteously

[Dr. Paul F. Barackman, as quoted in the Brooklyn (New York) Daily Eagle]

We pray almost instinctively. A need nothing on earth will meet compels us to do it. But is it any use? ...

A certain danger lurks in that word "use." ... We begin to talk of need for God and for a revival of religion, not that the kingdom of God may come on earth, nor that we may change our worldly ways, but that we may have an easier time or may get back prosperity. We do this with prayer, or we are tempted to do it. The answer to our question is, of course, that it is no use to pray with such a shallow intent as this.
