I first learned of Christian Science while I was singing...

I first learned of Christian Science while I was singing as soloist with a large orchestra in Boston, Massachusetts. A member of this orchestra invited me to attend the Sunday morning service at The Mother Church. I shall never forget the inspiration, peace, and joy that I received there. Later, in New York City, I was presented with a copy of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and at once realized that this contained the truth for which I had been seeking.

On my first visit to a practitioner I was instantaneously and permanently healed of the tobacco habit of many years' standing. Shortly after that the belief in the necessity for social drinking also vanished. Then came thorough study of Mrs. Eddy's works, together with the Bible. Membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church naturally followed, together with active and grateful service in various church activities.

Here let me pay tribute to the untiring, unselfish work of the practitioner who stood with me during the storms and struggles in my early experience.
