With a heart overflowing with thankfulness, I give my testimony.

It is twenty-five years since I became acquainted with Christian Science, at which time I was instantly healed of Basedow's disease, after the professor, who had operated on me twice, had declared that I had only a few years to live.

Yet, after years of keen interest in the Bible and in the writings of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I relapsed into a state in which, although I regularly read the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I felt that I read only words, and that the lesson those words should convey did not penetrate my thought. I had left the door open to wrong thoughts. Thus unshielded and unprotected, I did not find the mortal strength to declare God's omnipotence and omnipresence when, alone in London in February, 1937, I fell sick. I only knew that I did not want a physican and I wanted to be with my wife, whose clear understanding of Truth has always been a comfort to me. I was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
