Christian Science is the reinstatement of the Christianity...

Leader

Christian Science is the reinstatement of the Christianity which Jesus lived and taught. It is a discovery, a restatement, in this age, of that divine teaching, and there is nothing in Mrs. Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" which is not confirmed by the Bible. It is also producing the same results in hearts and lives which Jesus' teaching did, lifting thousands upon thousands of seekers all over the world out of sin and delivering them from sickness. Mrs. Eddy never claimed that she had experienced all the benefits of Christian Science, or proved all its truths. On the contrary, she said of herself (Science and Health, Pref., p. ix), "To-day, though rejoicing in some progress, she still finds herself a willing disciple at the heavenly gate, waiting for the Mind of Christ." She said also (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 34), "Follow your Leader only so far as she follows Christ." Her statement that Mind is All, which "X" objects to, is equivalent to saying that God is All. God is infinite Mind, and since, as every Christian believes, God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, and omniactive, God—divine Mind—is indeed All. If we all remembered this, how much more harmonious the world would be! In Isaiah we read, "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else."

Why should Mrs. Eddy, simply because her books are religious, be scoffed at for their success? Her books have already done more good in the world than any other book but the Bible, and they have also increased the demand for that treasure house of spiritual truth. The fact is, however, that Mrs. Eddy lived very simply, and that she spend far the greater part of her income in promoting the Cause of Christian Science.
