God's Presence

One of the fundamental facts of being revealed by Christian Science is that the real man is never outside of God's presence. Notwithstanding this eternal truth, mortals believe that they are in the presence of some inharmonious experience, condition, or circumstance.

At one time a student of Christian Science needed to prove that she could not be in the presence of a certain discord which was claiming her attention. To human sense, she needed to be lifted out of that presence and into God's presence. But through her study of Christian Science she had learned that in truth she needed only to realize that in her real being, as God's reflection, she had never been out of His presence, but was right then included in it. She needed to become so completely conscious of her inseparability from God that discord or error could not be present in her thought. But how? As she earnestly listened for a message from Mind to guide her, the following passage from the one hundredth Psalm came to her thought: "Come before his presence with singing." This, then, was to be her Golden Text in solving the problem.

But how could she sing? At the time there was apparently nothing to sing about. In a moment came the thought that she could sing and be thankful for the fact that in God's presence the condition could not, did not, exist. And if it could not exist in His presence, then it was not being experienced by man, His idea. As she ruled out of her consciousness, according to her highest understanding, all that was not acceptable to God, her thought was changed and corrected, and the demonstration of harmony was made.
