Among the Churches

Savannah, Georgia (First Church).—The fact that on Sunday, July 3, 1938, the members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Savannah, dedicated a fully paid-for house of worship on the corner of Thirty-first and Whitaker Streets is of genuine city-wide interest. Not alone are the members of the church concerned in the success that has come to them through a period of activity and deep religious enthusiasm, but everyone concerned with the present and future of Savannah should look with marked evidences of approval upon this progressive movement.

Savannah is indeed a city of churches. It has been associated with religion and homes of the religious as long as it has been a city. It counts among its most prized architectural possessions the fine and handsome edifices that house its varied earnest and progressive congregations. So when First Church of Christ, Scientist, can hold a service to dedicate a debt-free building to the cause of religion, it is a matter in which the entire city is interested. Christian Scientists have made very marked progress in Savannah.

The Evening Press is quite certain that it voices the sentiment of those who believe in better morals, better living, and sincerity in the practice of religion, when it records the conclusion of this church erection and church ownership on the part of its earnest congregation.—Evening Press.
