I am indeed grateful to testify to the healing power...
I am indeed grateful to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. I have proved it, and found it not wanting.
I am grateful for God's loving care and protection during a recent experience. I was in an automobile accident and was taken to a hospital. My right eye, cheek, lip, nose, and shoulder were cut, and had to be stitched, and I also sustained a compound fracture of the right shoulder. The doctor wanted to know if I could see and hear. I told him I could, and he said it was a miracle that I was alive. The pain seemed very severe until the Christian Science practitioner began to work; then all pain left. I asked the nurse if I could go home, but she said my face and arm were in a serious condition, and if I did not have surgery I could never use my arm again. During this experience I kept repeating the words, "Perfect God and perfect man" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 259), and "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468), and I never lost consciousness. Now I have no bruises on my face, and I can use my arm. I was healed of facial paralysis also at that time. I was able to give "a cup of cold water in Christ's name" (ibid., p. 570) twice during this experience.
I am grateful for those who take Christian Science literature to the hospitals; they are doing good work. I am grateful also to the loving practitioner who worked for me; and for the spiritual awakening that came through this experience. For membership in The Mother Church, and for all the Christian Science activities, I thank God. I am also thankful to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower; and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving us this wonderful truth.
