Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

It has been a happy experience to hear, from men closely associated with newspapers in this country, of the value of The Christian Science Monitor in their offices. One man expressed his personal appreciation of the Monitor, and said he knew that the editorial department of his paper found it of very great value, and would not care to be without it, because of its splendid articles and sound and realiable news. An editor who was approached about the advertising-in-exchange-for-subscription to the Monitor stated that he was well acquainted with the paper and thought very highly of it, but as he was shortly leaving the country he would hope to interest his successor in the offer. The offer has now been accepted by the new editor.

Generous space continues to be given to excerpts from the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Recently a lady who was feeling much depressed turned to the daily paper and found exactly what she needed in the excerpt from the Lesson-Sermon. She then sought out the Reading Room, where she received further help, and afterwards found the church services, which she has continued to attend. An ever-increasing number of reprints from The Christian Science Monitor appear in the newspapers, always with acknowledgments.

The first Christian Science address to be delivered in Southern Rhodesia to a group of non-Christian Scientists was delivered to Toc H in Salisbury. There were twenty-one men present, representative of a very wide range of thought, a minister of religion, a theosophist, and a cabinet minister being among the number who listened with keen interest to the address. Three men expressed the desire to visit the Reading Room, and another said he would like to attend a testimony meeting. Several were interested in the Journal, Sentinel, Herald, and Monitor, which were available at the meeting. The opinion was expressed that the address had been instrumental in removing much ignorance on the subject of Christian Science.
