Christian Science is the greatest blessing that ever came...
Christian Science is the greatest blessing that ever came into my life.
In childhood I suffered from timidity and was fearful of many things. My desire was to help those who were sick, poor, or unhappy. I watched for opportunities to help others, but behind all this was a latent fear that I might go to a place called hell unless I constantly remained good. Christian Science taught me that God is good, and that man reflects God, good, not fear. My relief was great when I was guided into this religion of Love and read in the Glossary in our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (pp. 587, 588), the true meaning of hell and of heaven.
Many healings have taken place in our family through the faithful application of Christian Science. One healing for which I am especially grateful was of a nervous breakdown. The condition seemed most serious and was slow to yield, the cause being very evident. Relatives tried to help, but the trouble became worse. I took boarders in my home for a while and continued to help others with the time available after caring for home duties; but having two small children to care for, too, I finally allowed self-pity and discouragement, from lack of co-operation, to dominate my thinking. After losing my home and car and spending all my money for nurses and helpers, I was obliged to start out with my two children without a cent and to trust God with all my heart. I had to learn to cease complaining and to stop looking to personality to guide me to my right place. The winds of error blew about me, but I was unafraid because I was beginning to build on a firm foundation, and I learned to sing and be grateful for the experiences until my healing came.
