Some years ago the members of my family took up the study of Christian Science to see if it could help one who was literally under the sentence of death.
While studying the Christian Science textbook, I was healed of lung trouble. The belief of inheriting disease was broken, as I learned that all I could inherit came from my heavenly Father, God, good. As I had been lame from birth, and was never without backache, which the best surgical help did not alleviate, walking any distance always caused distress. One day I realized that I was free from the constant ache, although I still seemed to need a slight support with which to walk. Some time ago, to my great joy, I found that I no longer needed any support.
Many times I have been protected in cases of accident. Boiling fat spilled over my foot left neither burn nor mark. A sprained ankle gave no pain, although the foot was discolored for a few days. Some time ago I fell heavily and was unable to rise for a few minutes, so I quietly realized the truth stated by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 424), "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents." I was then able to get up and go on with my work. The knuckles of my right hand were swollen and the skin broken; however, I was able to finish all that was necessary, and later, on looking at my hand, I found that the swelling was all gone and the skin entirely healed.
