While much is being said in the business world about the so-called depression, and endeavors are being made in a material way to overcome its seeming obstacles, I am more than glad to relate my recent experience.

During the "bank holiday" in 1933 I was out of employment, had no funds or any source of income, and to add to this condition, my landlord was pressing me for the rent, the grocer had refused further credit, and my electricity and gas were cut off. As I clung steadfastly to the truth, knowing that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and also that man as God's perfect idea reflects nothing but good and is not subject to any lack or limitation, but is entitled to abundant supply, my problem was solved.

During that time my family lived from day to day on what little money and supplies I could bring home, until a position was presented to me for the sale and distribution of a product to a so-called glutted and demoralized market. By the application of Christian Science my work is progressing and expanding more and more each day, and I am learning to know that there is only one business, God's business, which is based on the Golden Rule; also that progress is scientific unfoldment of good, for it is possible to serve God by serving man. These experiences have proved to me that "trials are proofs of God's care" (Science and Health, p. 66).
