I have received many blessings through the study and application of Christian Science, and encouragement through reading the testimonies of others, so it is with a very grateful heart that I give this testimony, trusting it will encourage others to find that Christian Science does heal, and enables us to acknowledge that God, divine Mind, is the only intelligence and that He governs man.

I was suddenly paralyzed in my body and both legs. For six months I had treatment from a nerve specialist and a district surgeon in one of the largest hospitals in South Africa, but I failed to respond to their care and treatment. My parents, after being told by the doctors that I should never recover or walk again, took me home. There I again consulted several other doctors, but they only confirmed the specialist's report. Herbalists were consulted and their medicine taken, but all this proved unavailing.

By this time I had become desperate, difficult to work with, and unhappy at everything and everybody. My brother was given a few copies of the Christian Science Sentinel and he was told that Christian Science could heal me. I read these Sentinels and felt at peace; then I secured a copy of the Christian Science textbook from a public library, and read little else.
