The
story of Hagar and her son, Ishmael, as related in the Bible, has been read and pondered by many with varying degrees of sympathy, and possibly resentment at the seeming injustice done them at the hands of Abraham and his wife, Sarah.

In reply to your correspondent, with reference to what seemed to him a contradiction in a recent lecture, may I say Christian Scientists do not deny that to human sense disease seems real, but they do insist, as your correspondent rightly states, that because God, good, has not created these evils, they are not real, and therefore are to be denied.

Christian Science is not based upon the "fantastic theory" of the "nonexistence of matter and the body," as inferred by the clergyman speaking at the Convocation of Canterbury, and reported in your issue of recent date; but we conclude that, since God, the creator, is Spirit, creation must be spiritual, and that if man is made in the image and likeness of God, he is spiritual, and not physical.
Christian Science

The attendance at the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church has of late years required additional seating capacity to that of The Mother Church main auditorium, and therefore the original Mother Church auditorium has been used, being connected with the main auditorium by a public address system.

I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, as I did not know that this work formed part of the religion, although I was much in need of healing.
