In 1922 a friend sent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. While in charge of an outpost on the Afghan border I read the book, and, having read it, knew that what it contained was absolutely and logically the truth. This knowledge naturally meant that I had to accept Christian Science and to act upon it. Assisted greatly by the friend who gave me the book, I began to claim the promises of the Bible, which Mrs. Eddy tells us are real and obtainable.
My first effort was to rid myself of the need to wear glasses, which I had worn for twelve years. This took a long time, nearly three years, but while I was working to bring about the healing of my eyes, malaria left me completely. For this I was very grateful, as I used to have these attacks with unfailing regularity; in fact, I was quite resigned to being put out of action for two or three days every month or so.
In addition to the above healings I have to be grateful for many others, among them the healing of resentment, an extreme distaste for new surroundings, the bite of a black cobra, and a strong taste for alcohol. I am very grateful for these benefits, which were all brought about by the same truth. I am grateful, too, for the sense of secuirty in the knowledge that God's law is ruling, and that the harmony, activity, and success of everything are maintained by this all-powerful law. The Christian Science literature is a great blessing, particularly as I am many miles from a branch church.—BERNARD SKEAD, Pietersburg, Transvaal, South Africa.
