Signs of the Times
[Idah McGlone Gibson in the News-Bee, Toledo, Ohio]
The world will one day pay homage to Mary Baker G. Eddy, that courageous fighter who has helped humanity to eliminate many forms of fear. Her interpretation of "The kingdom of God is within you" has brought strength to many a timid and faint-hearted woman, enabling her to bear the brunt of battle and awakening a desire to win.
There are days, of course, when everything goes "all wrong" in the business world as well as in the kingdom of home—but then is just the time to rise above the petty worries of the hour . . . and in fact to be strong. Let the tornado whirl, but let us be determined that nothing can disturb our peace of mind. The habit of bravery is acquired by education and discipline—as a soldier overcomes his timidity, . . . and as a child gradually learns to confess a fault. . . . We must battle with ourselves—and it is with self that the hardest battles are fought and the greatest victories won.
