Hon. William W. Davis, C. S., was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and attended its public schools. Since then he has been in business in Boston and in Cambridge. He has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, the Senate, and Governor's Council, and was a Presidential Elector in 1924. Mr. Davis was admitted to membership in Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts, and to The Mother Church in Boston in 1906. The same year he was appointed an usher in The Mother Church, where he has continued to serve.
George Shaw Cook, C.S.B., of Chicago, Illinois, was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Removing to Chicago with his parents, he was educated in the Chicago public schools. He went from school into the business world, later becoming identified with financial interests in Chicago and New York.
Mr. Cook became a student of Christian Science in 1895. He served successively as First Reader of Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, of Chicago; Committee on Publication for Illinois, and, from 1914 to 1925, as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship. In 1904, Mr. Cook gave up commercial pursuits to devote his life to the practice of Christian Science, and has since been engaged continuously in that work. In 1910 he was graduated from a Normal Class of the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, and became an authorized teacher of Christian Science.
