Signs of the Times
[From the Boston Evening Transcript, Massachusetts]
"Jesus, the Physician," was the subject of the Rev. Gardiner M. Day's service of meditation and prayer in Trinity Church. 'One of the great portraits that has been given to the world by the four evangelists is that of Jesus as the compassionate physician," said Mr. Day. "Everywhere ha went he administered the healing love and power of God to sick individuals. To some, like the man with the withered arm, he came as a physician in the ordinary sense of the word and restored his arm; while to others, like the dishonest tax collector, Zaccheus, he came as a physician in the deeper sense of the word and renewed the soul. Yet to all alike he came with his compassion, infinite patience and tenderness, and brought them so into the presence of God that their physical, mental, and spiritual burdens were lifted and, born anew; they went home, like the Roman centurion at the cross, crying, Truly this was the Son of God.'"
