I am so thankful the opportunity is given through the Christian Science periodicals whereby we may express our gratitude for the blessings we receive, so that others may see and know the great benefits we derive from Christian Science.
Friends, seeing my inharmonious condition, asked me to take up Christian Science. I did so, and through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and the other writings of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I have been healed of a discordant condition of the heart. For twenty-five years, on account of this trouble, I had been unable to pass a physical examination. A short time ago it was necessary for me to submit to such an examination and I am thankful to say I passed it. This one proof alone is sufficient for me to express my heartfelt gratitude.
Knowing my condition, and having been told by the doctors that I would live only a few years, I had resolved to get what I could out of this life during the few remaining years; and so I went to the depths of sin in many ways. Although, having been reared by devout Christian parents, I had always maintained a high standard in some respects, their religion did not appeal to me sufficiently to prevent my downward career, and nothing could stop it but divine power. Divine Love guided the way. Like many others, at one time I was skeptical in regard to Christian Science because I did not understand it. To-day I can sincerely say I consider Christian Science the most wonderful blessing bestowed on mankind in these modern times. I have experienced much spiritual growth and many healings during the three years of its study. My attitude toward my fellow-men has been changed; for at one time I had an oversupply of envy, resentment, and jealousy. This has been overcome to a great extent. During these three years I have read and heard hundreds of testimonies which are evidence that the teaching of Christian Science, if put into practice, is all we need. But why should we wait until some ailment or misfortune overtakes us and then ask God to remove it? The same loving Father is willing and ready to keep these things from us if we only trust Him. Mrs. Eddy says in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 210), "Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them."
