About six years ago I was taken ill with a sore throat, but did not take much notice of it. Although I had known something of Christian Science for quite a long time, yet I neglected to apply its teaching. The pain grew so much worse that I was nearly choked, and thought my end had come. My husband, who was very familiar with Christian Science, sent for a doctor. He diagnosed the trouble as a suppurating abscess on the tonsils, and said that he would be obliged to operate on me. But I knew that an operation would not take place. So I spent two or more painful days and nights; for I could neither speak nor swallow. Then I sent for a dear Christian Science practitioner, who declared the truth for me; and in one treatment I was free. Words of gratitude cannot express what I felt at that moment; for it was again made clear to me that Christ, Truth, heals just the same to-day as in the days of old.

It is my fervent desire to learn to think nobler and better thoughts in order that the passage of Scripture may be proved true to me: "They shall all know me, ... saith the Lord." Next to God I am sincerely grateful to our noble Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to all those who give their lives to the service of our Lord.
