Lecturer: Algernon Hervey Bathurst; introduced by H. J. Hooper, who said:—

Two thousand years ago Christ Jesus came preaching a gospel of peace and brotherhood, and of salvation to mankind from all evil. He not only taught that God is able and willing to free men from all their sorrows and from all their bodily ills, but exemplified the truth of what he taught by healing the sick and sinning and comforting the sorrowing; and he commanded his followers to do likewise. For about three centuries after his ascension these same mighty works were performed by those who had gained an understanding of the spiritual truths the Master taught. Then this power of spiritual healing was lost to the church, and did not appear again till some fifty years ago, when it was rediscovered and again demonstrated by Mary Baker Eddy in the healing of every type of disease, and in the overcoming of every form of discord. Mrs. Eddy gave her discovery to the world in her remarkable book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which has proved to be a veritable well of living water to hundreds of thousands of sick and heavy-laden people. Through the understanding of the spiritual truths of the Bible, as explained in Science and Health, every type of disease has been cured; and people have found peace and health, and freedom from every kind of ill, mental and physical, that afflicts humanity.
