I want to express something of my deep gratitude for the great blessing Christian Science has been and is to me. Every day I find that my indebtedness is increasing, and this small return through the pages of our periodical I hope may be helpful to some one.
I was introduced to Christian Science through its ministry of physical healing; and it is also healing me daily and hourly of wrong states of thought. In the first few months I was healed of chronic kidney and bladder disease and extreme nervousness. Later I was freed from severe headaches which had occurred at short intervals since childhood. These headaches were always preceded by numbness, impaired vision, and loss of memory. I had so much fear that this condition would develop into some terrible disease that it took a long time to destroy it. However, with conscientious affirmation of good and denial of evil, and a growing understanding of this truth which does make free, I was entirely healed. That was ten or more years ago.
More recently I was healed of ptomaine poisoning and dysentery when it seemed impossible to rise above them. A faithful, loving practitioner sat with me until the difficulty was destroyed, including the agony and distressing conditions. I can never be too grateful for these physical healings. But how can I convey one little part of the gratitude I feel for regeneration—for a life purified and made useful; for spiritual awakening; and for an aroused desire to be of service to my fellow-men! The healings that bring tears of thankfulness to God to my eyes are those of resentment, hatred, self-pity, and so forth, the "secret faults" from which I pray daily to be cleansed.
